Privacy Policy
Rippn is an Android app that prints things on a small Bluetooth receipt printer. Some of those things are made by an AI you talk to, using your own API key. This page says what we keep, why, and how to make us stop. The short version: there is no account, and your prompts never pass through us.
Who we are
Rippn is made by Better Sheets. Questions and requests go to [email protected].
What we collect
- An anonymous usage tally — the app can send us a random id it made up when it was installed, the name of a feature you used (e.g. "chat text", "coloring page"), and the app version. No prompt, no key, no email, nothing that names you. This is how we count how many phones run Rippn and what gets used. Switch it off in Settings → "share usage counts" and nothing is sent.
- Reports — if you tap "report this" on something the AI made, we keep that prompt, that output, your reason, and the same random install id, so we can review it.
That is the whole list. We do not have accounts, sign-in, email addresses, or payment records.
What stays on your phone
- Your AI keys. The API keys you paste into Settings are stored encrypted in the app's private storage. They are sent only to the provider they belong to, never to us. Remove them any time in Settings, or by uninstalling the app.
- Everything the AI made for you (the archive), your printer pairing, settings, series and schedules. These live in the app's private storage and never leave the phone unless you print or report them.
- Voice input uses Android's built-in speech recognizer. Audio goes to your phone's speech service (typically Google's), not to us. The app only receives the resulting text as your prompt.
- Bluetooth is used only to talk to your printer. We do not scan for, log, or upload nearby devices.
Who else sees your prompts
When you ask the AI for words or a picture, your prompt goes straight from your phone to the AI provider whose key you used — OpenAI, Anthropic, Google (Gemini), or DeepSeek — under their API terms and your own account with them. We are not in the middle. Each provider's handling of API traffic is described in their own policy.
What we don't do
- No advertising, no ad SDKs, no tracking across other apps or sites.
- No selling or sharing of your data with anyone.
- No analytics beyond the optional tally described above.
How long we keep it
- Usage tally: up to 24 months, then deleted.
- Reports: kept for policy review.
Deleting your data
There is no account to delete. Turning off "share usage counts" stops new tallies; uninstalling the app removes the install id, your keys, and everything else on the phone. To have past tally rows or a report you filed removed, email [email protected] with the install id shown next to the toggle in Settings.
Children
Rippn is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Security
All traffic from the app is encrypted (HTTPS). Your AI keys are stored with Android's keystore-backed encryption and never leave the phone except to their own provider.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, the effective date above moves and the app will tell you on next launch.
